Tomatito (means tomato in diminutive) is a Gypsy guitarist, Paco’s colleague and a pupil at the same time. But also a strong influence to Paco’s style and that specific Gypsy freedom, that enabled their artistic communication at that level they achieved. Tomatito posses this special Gypsy feeling for freedom because his playing chases just harmony that first comes up, and completely wild guitarist consonances and Gypsy unique solutions. That Tomatito’s freedom influenced Paco De Lucia in a special way, letting him keep his own initial freedom of expression, while still totally dedicated to the elaboration of post-impressionists harmony he was basing his compositions on. Being just like Paco, “el monstruo” (the monster) on the guitar, during the 90’s they took the flamenco guitar playing to new levels. Trying to “outplay” one another, writing crazy arrangements for two guitars, they raised the bar so high, that now an average flamenco guitarist has to practice for 20 years, at least. Tomatito es el guitarrista Gitano, el colega y el alumno de Paco a la vez. Pero también una fuerte de influencia para el estilo de Paco y esa libertad gitana específica, que permitió su comunicación artística en ese nivel que lograron. Tomatito posee este sentimiento gitano especial por la libertad, porque su toque persigue solo la armonía que apareceprimera, y las consonancias y soluciones de guitarristas completamente salvajes. Esta libertad de Tomatito influenció a Paco De Lucia de una manera especial, permitiéndole mantener su propia libertad de expresión inicial, mientras aún estaba totalmente dedicado a la elaboración de la armonía posimpresionista en la que basaba sus composiciones. Siendo igual como Paco, “el monstruo” de la guitarra, durante los ’90 han llevado el toque flamenco a nuevos niveles. Intentando a sobrepasar uno al otro, escribiendo arreglos locos para dos guitarras, han subido la barra tan alto, que ahora un guitarrista mediano de flamenco tiene que practicar 20 años, como minimo.
