La Rumba is the Australian street “rumberos” band. I really like them because their music is “breathing” and possessing “aire” that flamenco needs. And they have it because they probably live a nomadic life. Their “duende” is even felt better than that of the many Spanish rumberos bands I have heard so far, btw… This band is a living proof that the music has no boundaries and that it can transmit emotions and feelings even to the most remote people on the globe. La Rumba band is also a clear example of how the flamenco freedom nomadic philosophy influences almost nations worldwide. It is because of the insatiable thirst for freedom, not just in the lyrics, but the very music form is directed towards freedom, regarding both melody and harmony. Of course, overseas they don’t have neither the atmosphere, neither the social environment to create and compose flamenco, like Spanish artists. But in this version of Entre Dos Aguas by Paco De Lucia, they play with even more passion than many Spanish guitarists. The Indian Ocean waves obviously inspired them just like the Atlantic and Mediterranean did a Paco De Lucia…
La Rumba es la banda australiana de “rumberos”. Realmente me gustan porque su música “respira” y tiene el “aire” que el flamenco necesita. Y lo tienen porque probablemente viven una vida nómada. Su “duende” se siente incluso mejor que el de las muchas bandas rumberas Españolas que he escuchado hasta ahora, por cierto … Esta banda es una prueba viviente de que la música no tiene límites y que puede transmitir emociones y sentimientos incluso a las personas que incluso muy lejos en el planeta. La banda de La Rumba es también un claro ejemplo de cómo la filosofía nómada de la libertad flamenca influye a casi todas las naciones del mundo. Es debido a la insaciable sed de libertad, no solo en las letras, sino que la forma musical se dirige hacia la libertad, tanto en el respeto a la melodía, como a la armonía tambien. Por supuesto, en el extranjero no tienen ni la atmósfera ni el ambiente social para crear y componer el flamenco, como los artistas españoles. Pero en esta versión de Entre Dos Aguas de Paco De Lucia, tocan con más pasión que muchos guitarristas españoles. Las olas del Océano Índico obviamente las inspiraron al igual que el Atlántico y Meditrranean hicieron con Paco De Lucia…
