Manuel de Falla is one of the most important Spanish composers of all time. He lived and worked in the first half of the 20th century, and besides Isaac Albéniz, Francisco Tárrega, and Enrique Granados is without a doubt, the most influential figure for the modern-day flamenco harmony. He was really a pianist and his almost virtuoso piano playing was the base for his composing because he was composing the pieces playing the melodies first on the piano. So, playing every instrument’s melody line on the piano first, and then writing it down as a music score.
Manuel De Falla had Catalan roots, but they were living in the main province, Castilla, Madrid. He began his piano studies on the Conservatorio Real De Madrid in 1900, and started to get noted and awarded from the very beginning of his studies. Contemporary with the most important impressionists of the time, like Joaquín Turina and Joaquín Rodrigo, very soon the influence of Andalusian flamenco music started to appear in his compositions also. There are many very important pieces that he wrote, that influenced the very development of the flamenco in the second half of the 20th century. Just too many to mention, really, but this Danca de la Vida Breve is certainly among them. The performance of Paco De Lucia with Jose Maria Banderas is the one I like the most, but this other performance of Ekaterina Záytseva and Marta Robles is really good, they the perfect tone, and energy:

Vivió y trabajó en la primera mitad del siglo XX, y además de Isaac Albéniz, Francisco Tárrega y Enrique Granados es, sin duda, la figura más influyente para que la armonía flamenca moderna sea como es hoy dia. El realmente era un pianista, y su forma de tocar el piano casi virtuosa fue la base de su composición porque estaba componiendo las piezas trabajando en el piano, tocando primero la línea de la melodía de cada instrumento en el piano, y luego escribiéndola como una partitura musical.
Manuel De Falla tenía raíces catalanas, pero la familia vivío en la provincia principal, Castilla, en Madrid. Comenzó sus estudios de piano en el Conservatorio Real de Madrid en 1900. Comenzó a ser notado y premiado desde el comienzo de sus estudios. Escribió muchas piezas muy importantes que influyeron en el desarrollo mismo del flamenco en la segunda mitad del siglo XX. Demasiadas para mencionar, realmente, pero esta Danca de la Vida Breve es sin duda una de ellas. La actuación de Paco De Lucia con José María Banderas es la que más me gusta, pero esta otra actuación de Ekaterina Záytseva y Marta Robles es realmente buena, tienen el tono perfecto y la tambian la energía:
